Our office building doesn't currently have a recycling program, so a few weeks ago I picked up a blue trashcan with a recycling logo and dropped it in our kitchen (or, as our fabulous space designer Anne says, "the oasis") with a "Please recycle your soda cans here" sign. We provide soda to keep our programmers happy, and I was feeling a bit guilty about all those cans going into the trash.
I'm happy that everyone has gotten on board, and I'm even finding glass frappuccino bottles (okay, those are mostly mine) and broken-down cardboard boxes. It amounts to about a paper grocery store bag a week or less, so Rob & I take it home & drop it in with our own.
As I write this, the big tree-lighting ceremony in Rockefeller Center is on TV. This year it's pretty green - they've got solar panels up on the roof of Rockefeller Center, which they're using they're using to power the LED lights on the tree. Very cool. Apparently they also cut the tree down using hand tools!
