Rob & I were fortunate to get a Lexus 400h when they first came out, so we've been driving it for a good 2.5 years now.
I wouldn't say it's the greenest hybrid out there, but it is a fantastic car. We average between 21 and 29 mpg, depending on the weather and driving conditions. At 25mph, it can run pretty much on the battery, so I love driving it around town. The car is more tuned for performance than gas sipping; I remember hearing that in Japan it comes with a "battery only" button to switch off using the gas engine. Wish we had that.
The car is really comfortable for road trips, and is a little cheaper on gas than other luxury cars as it can take regular unleaded gas. Add that to the slightly better mpg, and you're driving a little greener than you could be.
We road tripped my mother in law's Prius from Virginia to Wisconsin a few years back. It's a second generation model, and it really surprised us. It wasn't as floaty as my parent's Camry, and the gas mileage was terrific. The mpg was actually good in the mountains, too. The Prius totally rocks!
